Hey Dave,

There is also a category of people who get traffic to their site, but don't have a good way to earn an income from it. Sure, there's AdSense, but I would bet that in most cases it does not pay that much.

Instead, find a decent affiliate program that you can endorse, and post a banner on your site. It's a passive way to market, and you can still focus on your main gig.

Hope that helps someone...

Thanks for the comment Anthony. I think this is the process you have to go through to prove to yourself what works and what doesn't.

I have to say, the second time around is a lot less stressful and much more focussed, because you now know what to ignore.

There's no such thing as get rich quick, but it seems to be human nature to try shortcuts when they present themselves.

An online business is just like any other. It takes planning, hard work, investment and lots and lots of dedication (not to mention time).

All the best and I also wish you luck with your enterprises.

Good post Dave!

As I read it I get that "was there, done that" feeling. I also started back in late 2002 and fell on the wrong path rather easily. GPTR, HYIP, Surf for Cash, you name it. In february 2006 I suddenly woke up, went back to the basics and started recoup all the money lost. I'm barely in the green yet, but now I know which path to walk.

Wish you get luck with your business.
