……………………………

I’m an observer. I watch marketers and how they work.

Jimmy D. Brown

I look at how people respond to marketing. And I’ve discovered something interesting over the years that I want to share with you as it relates to building your internet business.

Hot topics and trends come along regularly. There’s always a new “in” thing making an appearance on the radar screen. And whenever there’s a new rage, there will be marketers who jump on the bandwagon.

That can pay off big for YOU if you’re smart.

Let me explain.

What happens when a new trend or technique or tool surfaces?

*** People begin to talk about it.***

Marketers begin convincing people why they need it.
Consumers tell their stories. Discussions take place. Hype builds. Sometimes controversy breaks out. An education process unfolds.

Through it all … DEMAND increases.

Now, here’s where you come along.

You piggyback on the popularity of the latest big hit by creating a small report on the topic. You get the benefit of other marketers creating hungry leads for your offer without them even knowing it.

Let me give you an example -

EXAMPLE

When John Reese released Traffic Secrets it was a huge success.
He sold over a million dollars worth of product in one twenty-four hour period. However, at a $997.00 asking price, it was out of reach for many consumers.

But…

What if YOU had decided to write a 15 page small report entitled, “Free Traffic Secrets” and offered it for $20 … do you think you would have had any takers? Of course!

Why? Because every marketer on the planet was talking about the need for web site traffic so they could build interest in John’s course. They were creating hungry leads for your offer without them even knowing it.

All of these marketers expertly and persuasively pointed out the necessity, benefits and usages of getting web site traffic. They, in essence, would have created demand for the TOPIC of your small report.

1. Many of those that couldn’t afford John’s high-ticket product would likely buy your small report because the end result of getting site traffic was something they had been told repeatedly they needed!

2. Many of those who could afford John’s high-ticket product would also likely buy your small report because of the same reason AND they would like to know what you might offer differently than John.

Do you see how powerful this is?

Even as I type this lesson out, I have received DOZENS of emails today announcing a new co-registration product that everyone’s talking about.

I could spend a few hours this evening writing a small report on the same topic and sell it like crazy tomorrow because of everything that’s being said about the subject today.

So, what’s the lesson for you to learn here -

**The surest way to create a hot-selling small report is to pick a topic related to that which everyone is talking about.***

You know, it doesn’t matter what “market” you’re in, chances are you see the same kinds of outbreaks that I see in “internet marketing” circles …

* Major product launches
* New technologies and tools
* Fresh research
* Innovative features and improvements
* Ground-breaking news
* Hot topics of discussion
* Best-selling books
* Interest-grabbing magazine articles
* Emerging trends

The list could go on and on, right?

It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that you need to monitor what’s going on around you, specifically looking for the latest topic everyone’s talking about.

You can do this by regularly browsing 4 trend and event “hot spots”…

1. Active Forums. Find at least one ACTIVE forum related to your market and regularly visit it to look for ideas. Keyword here is “active”. The ideal forum will have a number of participants who regularly post messages.

2. News Feeds. You can begin with Google.com’s news center at http://news.google.com.
You should also look for a news feed or site that is specific to your field of interest. For example: I regularly visit http://ChristianHeadlines.com to stay on top of events related to some of my Christian sites.

3. Article Directories. Spend a few minutes at your favorite article directory, focusing specifically on the NEWEST articles posted and the TOP RECENT articles read. I regularly check http://goarticles.com.

4. Competitor’s Lists. You’ll also want to “spy” on what your competition is doing by joining their lists. When a major competitor begins highlighting certain topics in their content (I.E. “articles”) and / or releases or promotes a specific product, it’s a good indication that you should pay attention.

All of these things allow you to capitalize on the current buzz!

Create small reports based on these buzz-worthy topics.

How To Save Time Online

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Copyright © 2008 Jim Edwards

One of the biggest problems anyone faces online involves too much to do and not enough time to get it done! I’m not talking about the casual Internet user who jumps online as a form of entertainment to check email, use Skype, or watch YouTube videos. I’m referring to the ever-growing number of people who use the Internet for much of their business activities. If you fall into that category, the following tips will easily help you save considerable time online.

Filter Email - Filtering email rates #1 on your time-saving list. In virtually every survey ever done on the subject, email wins hands-down as the #1 most time-consuming activity. To save time, you should separate your personal and business email with separate accounts and check the personal account once a day (saves 10 minutes per day). You should also use a commercial spam filter such as Spamarrest.com to cut down on the spam you must wade through to find messages that do need your attention (saves 15 to 30 minutes per day).

Password Organizers - Using a password manager like Roboform.com or KeePass.info (free) cuts down on time spent searching your desk or email program looking for usernames and passwords for accounts you don’t use very often. Secure and immediate access to all your passwords will save you at least 10 to 15 minutes per day.

Unsubscribe - Get off the lists of publications you either don’t read or don’t get maximum value for time best flash casinosjuego gratis onlineganar dinero real paginas internetcasino de juego gran madridvegas casinodownload casino vegasruleta internetjugar tragaperras internetjuego dadoscasinos descargas pagina webapuesta dinero interneton line casinojuegos instantaneos lineaganar premiosganar dinero verdadero portales webjuego casino portales webapostar dinero portales webjuego interactivo pagina internetcasinos portal webpromociones casino portales internetpromociones casino pagina webjugar cartas webjuego internetjugar blackjackjuegos apuestas portalmaquinas tragaperras portalesjugar al instante onlinecasinos descargas lineacasinos alquilerjack black en linea gratiscomo ganar en la ruletajuegos de casino gratis,juegos de casino online,juegos casinowww casino on netgratis casino bonusswiss casino bonus codeonline casino downloadblack jack online spielecasino tropez bonus codeglucksspiel gesellschaftinheritance cash advancescams on cash advance company,advance cash companysultan online casinofree online baccarat,free baccarat game,free baccaratfree no download video pokerplay black jack online freeplaying video pokerfree slots and video pokerplay casino onlineonline roulette game,roulette game free online,casino game online roulettefree online blackjack,casino online free blackjack,play blackjack online free spent. Casual skimming of even one email newsletter or ezine eats up several minutes of your day each time you do it. Drop off 3 email lists and you’ll save yourself at least 15 minutes per day.

Track Your Time - Flitting from task to task like a rabbit with ADD robs you of any real chance to get things done. Increase your focus on specific tasks by using an egg timer to get yourself 100% focused for a specific chunk of time. Google the phrase “free egg timer software” to find a timer that runs on your desktop. While the egg timer ticks, nothing else but the current task at hand matters. This technique will net you at least 30 extra minutes of wasted time saved each day.

Pen and Paper - Always operate with a list of prioritized tasks so you know what you should work on at any given moment. A simple, prioritized list on a piece of “real” paper will reclaim at least 10 minutes per day in wasted time.

Just Say “No” - Distractions abound on the Internet. New products, new services, new videos, new jokes, new distractions come at us on a minute-by-minute basis. Yet those distractions rob us of the precious time we desperately need to accomplish our own objectives. If something new comes along, let it sit for a day, or even just an hour, and then make a decision whether or not to give it your time. This will easily save you at least 15 to 20 minutes a day in lost time.

My best advice involves operating with a strong purpose when doing anything online. I’ve shown you simple strategies here to save massive amounts of time every day. If you operate with a strong purpose, you’ll save even more. Why? Because a strong purpose helps you filter out any time-wasting activities that won’t get you where you want to go.

The Emperor’s New Clothes Online

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Here’s another great article from regular contributor

Jim Edwards:

Emperor

The Emperor’s New Clothes Online

- by Jim Edwards

© Jim Edwards - All Rights reserved

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

One of the greatest features of the Internet involves that fact that people enjoy a high level of freedom to express themselves.

So much so that in many countries the governments restrict and censor what people can see and say online.

Sites like MySpace.com make it easy to find like-minded people to interact with, while review sites such as Epinions.com make hard for charlatans and con-artists to escape scrutiny.

However, all this reliance on authority figures and third party references can sometimes backfire when social pressure, ignorance, and negligence align to create a distorted reality.

When this happens, bad products, poor services, or inferior ideas propagate because “everyone’s doing it” and nobody stands up for the common-sense and obvious reality - exactly like the children’s tale of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.”

Now, if you don’t remember the Hans Christian Andersen tale, let me give you fast a refresher.

The Emperor decided he needed some new clothes and called in tailors from around the world.

He was so self-centered that he couldn’t see reality, and that made him an easy mark for a couple of con-artists posing as tailors (authority figures).

“Their colors and patterns, they said, were not only exceptionally beautiful, but the clothes made of their material possessed the wonderful quality of being invisible to any man who was unfit for his office or unpardonably stupid.”

Thus they used fear of appearing stupid and social pressure of “everyone else sees it but me, so I’ll just keep quiet!”

Only in the end did the voice of reason come in the form of a small, innocent child who, immune to all these psychological tricks, pointed out the emperor’s naked form and brought most of the adults back to reality.

Now, how does this “children’s tale” apply to the online world?

First, because people get busy and it rates much easier to repeat what someone else said than to do your own research, myths, half-truths or downright lies get passed along without a second thought.

The more popular the idea or timely the topic, the faster it gets transmitted and the less research gets done.

The moral: if something doesn’t look or sound right to you, no matter how many authority figures claim it’s true, do your own research and check the facts.

Second, charlatans and online con-artists depend on you to get swept up in the “hype” of online promotion.

This fact drives the classic “pump and dump” scam where unscrupulous promoters tout a stock, drive up the price, then sell off their own shares before people get wise.

The moral: become extremely wary whenever people tout a product or service using hyped up promises of instant wealth or results without any real substance or proof.

Third, people will use your fear of appearing stupid or different from others to drive your behavior.

This “social pressure” is perhaps the most dangerous because it is so engrained in us that we often act because of it with no clue as to why we do things.

The moral: any time you feel pressured into buying or doing something where fear is the primary driver, take a step back and reevaluate before moving ahead.

Lack of time and the overall frenetic pace of life online make it possible for anyone to sell us our own set of “emperor’s clothes” if we don’t exercise caution.

Slow down by 10%, think for yourself, and don’t always follow the crowd (because they might just be running off the nearest cliff)!

Using Google Reader to Stop Information Overload and Improve Your Efficiency

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Miles Galliford writes:

THE INTERNET IS THE SINGLE GREATEST RESEARCH RESOURCE that has ever existed. However, whilst it has solved many of the issues of getting access to information, it has created new issues that have to be addressed. Probably the biggest of these is information overload.

In order to keep up to date with my many areas of interest so I can run my business efficiently, understand what is happening in the online content sector and still have time for leisure activities, I have to be extremely good at filtering information.

Over the years I have tried many tools to help me aggregate online information so that it is easy to scan, read, save and filter.

The tool that I have finally settled on is the free ‘Google Reader’.

True Online Video Arrives This Year

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Jim Edwards writes:

TWO THINGS HAPPENED THIS WEEK that brought my focus back to online video and where all this hoopla will eventually take us.

First, I read an article about Joost, a peer-to-peer online TV distribution system created by the same people who made Skype (which sold to eBay for a gazillion dollars).

Second, my wife pointed out to me last night that our TiVo box will soon offer the option to purchase and download movies directly from Amazon through our high-speed Internet connection.

These two factors herald the true arrival of online video this year!
