We all know that Google has become the leading figure in search engine tools, but the thing that most people are unaware of are the valuable business tools that Google has available for free. I’m not talking about Google Earth or Google Maps, I am talking about Google Apps. This free tool offers users the ability to create free email accounts, share files, create schedules, and communicate with people in real time. Although most of these tools are used for personal use, businesses should look into Google Apps. The price is right and it is one valuable piece of software.

Gmail: With Gmail businesses are able to create email accounts free of charge. Sure the email address will have “@gmail.com” attached to it, but it’s a good alternative if you don’t want to pay big bucks for a custom email address when Google offers a solution for free. Gmail also has enough storage for your email needs, excellent spam control and the user friendly interface makes this tool a valuable resource.

Google Docs: Google Docs allows individuals to share files and store data on the internet free of charge. Most businesses require files to be shared over the internet and Google Docs is an excellent way to do that. Business owners can create files, make changes to them, and republish them online.

Google Calendar: With Google Calendar you can manage your time better than ever. You can schedule tasks, set due dates, and use time more efficiently. This tool also lets individuals share schedules with others making it easier for people to collaborate with each other. This again comes at the amazing price of *free*.

Google Talk: Talk is perhaps the most valuable tool that business owners should use in the day to day running of their business. This tool allows individuals to instant message one another from anywhere in the world in real time. Employees and business owners can conduct meetings from a computer anywhere in the world. This means more business can be done with more flexibility. Google Talk will allow businesses to conduct company meetings, allow employees to collaborate and generally stay in contact more efficiently.

All of these tools combined can prove to be beneficial to any business. Put all of these resources together, and a business can be run from anywhere in the world. To use Google Apps, create an account with Google and give this powerful application a go.

All the best,

Dave.

Think Yourself Rich

Most people think of a business person as either some kind of poker-faced accountant or some hyped-up extroverted salesman/woman. You rarely read about about an imaginative business person and less often hear of one who is highly creative, artistic, and visionary.

The popular concept of a business person, as publicized by the media, is someone who is rather dull and linear in their thinking. They are more often referred to as “hard-nosed” and “practical”. In fact, many business people themselves buy into this mistaken stereotype.

Imagination and creativity is at the heart of all business success. While corporations themselves may appear to be based on stringent rules and regulations, the entrepreneurs who started these companies have all, without exception, been highly creative and imaginative individuals. The corporations that remain innovative and progressive continue to encourage freedom of imaginative expression within their corporate structure… Apple being a prime example.

Napoleon Hill, in his famous book “Think And Grow Rich” goes into great detail about the influential role of imagination in business success.

He talks about two types of imaginative faculties: “synthetic” imagination and “creative” imagination. Through “synthetic” imagination, a person arranges old concepts, ideas, plans, and business models into new combinations. Technically, whilst nothing new is created, the fresh, new approach can yield amazing results.

For example, the self-help grocery store where customers do all the work of shopping is now very familiar to us, in fact we would be hard pushed to remember when things were any different. However, the original business model was to have people come up to the counter of a shop and present their list to the sales assistant who would then run around the store and fetch items for them. Now, with the use of aisles, clear directional signing and shopping carts, the job of a store is to keep stocked and check people out.

In fact, even this idea of checking people out is becoming obsolete, with many stores now offering people the option to check themselves out. Thus, the customer does all the work. Pulling out and wheeling the shopping cart, selecting products and checking themselves out. The result of this arrangement is that the store is more profitable as it can accommodate many more customers and the customer is happier as they are in total control of their shopping experience.

The “creative” imagination borders on the mystical… Here is how Napoleon Hill describes it:

“Through the faculty of creative imagination, the finite mind of man has direct communication with Infinite Intelligence. It is the faculty through which ‘hunches’ and ‘inspirations’ are received. It is by this faculty that all basic, or new ideas are handed over to man. It is through this faculty that individuals may ‘tune in’ or communicate with the subconscious minds of other men.

Business is far from being a game of conservative rule-playing. It is alive with imaginative ideas of how to best serve customers and the marketplace, an aspect of doing business which is seldom mentioned in the media.

As an entrepreneur, start to exercise your imagination, be more creative in how you structure your services and products, put a new spin on how you serve customers. The more you apply creative thinking to your business, not only will you stand apart from your competitors, you will see many more ways to make money, create new channels of supply and demand in your marketplace and ultimately become more profitable.

All the best,

Dave.

How To Save Time Online

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Copyright © 2008 Jim Edwards

One of the biggest problems anyone faces online involves too much to do and not enough time to get it done! I’m not talking about the casual Internet user who jumps online as a form of entertainment to check email, use Skype, or watch YouTube videos. I’m referring to the ever-growing number of people who use the Internet for much of their business activities. If you fall into that category, the following tips will easily help you save considerable time online.

Filter Email - Filtering email rates #1 on your time-saving list. In virtually every survey ever done on the subject, email wins hands-down as the #1 most time-consuming activity. To save time, you should separate your personal and business email with separate accounts and check the personal account once a day (saves 10 minutes per day). You should also use a commercial spam filter such as Spamarrest.com to cut down on the spam you must wade through to find messages that do need your attention (saves 15 to 30 minutes per day).

Password Organizers - Using a password manager like Roboform.com or KeePass.info (free) cuts down on time spent searching your desk or email program looking for usernames and passwords for accounts you don’t use very often. Secure and immediate access to all your passwords will save you at least 10 to 15 minutes per day.

Unsubscribe - Get off the lists of publications you either don’t read or don’t get maximum value for time best flash casinosjuego gratis onlineganar dinero real paginas internetcasino de juego gran madridvegas casinodownload casino vegasruleta internetjugar tragaperras internetjuego dadoscasinos descargas pagina webapuesta dinero interneton line casinojuegos instantaneos lineaganar premiosganar dinero verdadero portales webjuego casino portales webapostar dinero portales webjuego interactivo pagina internetcasinos portal webpromociones casino portales internetpromociones casino pagina webjugar cartas webjuego internetjugar blackjackjuegos apuestas portalmaquinas tragaperras portalesjugar al instante onlinecasinos descargas lineacasinos alquilerjack black en linea gratiscomo ganar en la ruletajuegos de casino gratis, juegos de casino online, juegos casinowww casino on netgratis casino bonusswiss casino bonus codeonline casino downloadblack jack online spielecasino tropez bonus codeglucksspiel gesellschaftinheritance cash advancescams on cash advance company, advance cash companysultan online casinofree online baccarat, free baccarat game, free baccaratfree no download video pokerplay black jack online freeplaying video pokerfree slots and video pokerplay casino onlineonline roulette game, roulette game free online, casino game online roulettefree online blackjack, casino online free blackjack, play blackjack online free spent. Casual skimming of even one email newsletter or ezine eats up several minutes of your day each time you do it. Drop off 3 email lists and you’ll save yourself at least 15 minutes per day.

Track Your Time - Flitting from task to task like a rabbit with ADD robs you of any real chance to get things done. Increase your focus on specific tasks by using an egg timer to get yourself 100% focused for a specific chunk of time. Google the phrase “free egg timer software” to find a timer that runs on your desktop. While the egg timer ticks, nothing else but the current task at hand matters. This technique will net you at least 30 extra minutes of wasted time saved each day.

Pen and Paper - Always operate with a list of prioritized tasks so you know what you should work on at any given moment. A simple, prioritized list on a piece of “real” paper will reclaim at least 10 minutes per day in wasted time.

Just Say “No” - Distractions abound on the Internet. New products, new services, new videos, new jokes, new distractions come at us on a minute-by-minute basis. Yet those distractions rob us of the precious time we desperately need to accomplish our own objectives. If something new comes along, let it sit for a day, or even just an hour, and then make a decision whether or not to give it your time. This will easily save you at least 15 to 20 minutes a day in lost time.

My best advice involves operating with a strong purpose when doing anything online. I’ve shown you simple strategies here to save massive amounts of time every day. If you operate with a strong purpose, you’ll save even more. Why? Because a strong purpose helps you filter out any time-wasting activities that won’t get you where you want to go.

What Can You Do To Make Money Today?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

One aspect of making money online that often gets overlooked is providing a service for the millions of website and blog owners. Let’s look at this closer.

Most website and blog owners do not have the knowledge, time, or money to do everything it takes to run an online business these days. This can be good news for you.

You can make money by providing a service that solves a problem for all of these webmasters. If you are smart you will get a pen and piece and paper and start writing after you finish reading this.

What do you know how to do that you could do for someone. One Internet marketer started an article writing company a couple of years ago for his son. They ended up developing it into a full time income.

Another service broke off from that. The service is writing and submitting articles because they had so many requests to market the articles they were writing for their customers.

The same marketer helped a friend start a business building blogs for people because blogging is so important today and many people do not know how to set up their own.

They started writing blog articles as well because of the number of blogs there are online today. They are just written a little shorter than regular articles so people can paste them in their blogs.

Other people make money online providing these type of service as well…

- website customization

- search engine optimization

- managing pay per click campaigns

- creating software

- publishing newsletters for people

- posting comments in blogs

- website building

- providing customer service via phone and email

- posting in forums

- ghostwriting

- set up autoresponder email campaigns

- create videos for blog owners

- customize private label right products

- do telemarketing for mlm business owners

- create graphics and sell them

This is just a few ideas.. You may think of others.

It’s pretty much guaranteed that if there is a need for a service on the Internet there are people willing to pay you to do it for them.

The quickest way to make your service known online is to set up a sales page describing your service.

Then add a PayPal button for ordering.

Finally join several Internet marketing forums and set up a signature file letting people know what you offer. Include a link back to your sales page.

As your business grows start a testimonial page and ask for referrals from your satisfied customers.

You will probably never get rich providing a service, but you can make a very good living over time, and you get to stay at home which beats going to work everyday for someone else.

All the best,

Dave.

Have You Succumbed to the Lure of the Speed of the Web?

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

I remember my first foray into the online world way back in the late September of 2003. It was when we were switched on to broadband here in the wilds of North West Durham, in the UK.

Until then I had only used the internet for minutes at a time (on dial up) and only for the most necessary tasks in my longstanding, and stress-laden offline business.

Now that I had a 24/7 super-speed connection, there was no stopping me. I wanted to know everything I could about building a business online and becoming stinking rich, without all the trials and tribulations that accompanied my traditional bricks-and-mortar operation.

This was going to be the “Magic Bullet”!

Literally the first name I uncovered during my research was a company called Site Sell. I’d be very surprised if you’ve not heard the name yourself, but if not then I’ll tell you more in a moment.

I spent hours reading through the company’s excellent information about their unique approach to building a business online. Although I was a little skeptical, I kept on reading and writing. I then made my very first purchase online, which was an ebook written by the company’s CEO, I’ll tell you more about this person in a moment.

I read the book from cover to cover twice and thought “Hey, this is the answer. I’ll go with this system and I’ll be fine”. Yes, it was going to be a bit of work and take time but I felt it was the correct way to go. However, before I clicked the Site Sell buy button, which would by now have totally changed my life, I saw another link to another company, purporting to do the same thing, only faster. Then there was another, then another… Blah, blah, blah - You know exactly what I’m saying don’t you?

Before long I was suffocating under tons and tons of online marketing noise and blather. Every time I tried to get back to square one, I’d find myself swept back down the online rapids, paralyzed by the sheer volume of information and counter information.

The upshot is I didn’t start to build my online business using Site Sell’s premier product “Site Build It!” until quite recently. I’ve literally lost 4+ years of what could have now been a thriving online enterprise. However, I’m doing it now (not in the fast lane… this is at a slow and easy pace and you know, it’s a pleasure to do and working out just fine).

Why am I telling you this? I assume you are in a similar position in that you want to get a profitable online business up and running as quickly as possible. If that’s the case take a bit of advice from someone who fell right into all the online marketing traps. Slower is faster when it comes to building your business online.

The folks at SiteSell are always on the cutting edge of everything e-business. They’ve helped tens of thousands of people launch successful Web businesses with “Site Build It” also known as SBI!.

SiteSell has an absolutely unique perspective about business, and life. Take a peek inside the world of SiteSell at this blog post by the person I like to think of as the Grandaddy of successful online business, Ken Evoy, SiteSell’s CEO.

Ken has strong feelings about how even seasoned business people succumb to “the lure of the speed of the Web”… Get ready because in the busy and noisy blogosphere, you’re in for some quiet, original, and valuable thinking, not to mention unique insights into SiteSell itself.

Here’s the link to Ken’s post again.

All the best,
Dave.

Free Video Series - Creating Your Custom Wordpress Blog Header

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

A few weeks ago regular visitor ‘Rex’ asked how the header graphic for Solo Profits had been put together.

I replied that it would be easier to show the process with a video rather than try to explain in writing… seemed like a good idea at the time;-)

Well, it turns out that it was ’sort of a good idea’, although I didn’t think then that the finished product would be almost an hour long and weigh-in at nearly half a gig (even in .flv format)!

Anyway the job’s done (the videos are uploading as I write).

I thought it would make a good subject for SoloReport 104, so I’ve split the whole thing into four segments for easier consumption - rather than having to view the whole thing in one go.

This is what the videos cover:

Video 1:

  • How to create a new basic document for your header using Photoshop
  • How to make a custom background
  • How to work with layers (a powerful tool for pro-quality graphics)
  • How to define a custom pattern to use in this and future artwork projects

Video 2:

  •  How to define a custom pattern (continued)
  •  Complete your custom header background using layers, opacity controls and your custom pattern
  • Add a basic headline and subhead
  • Use little-known Photoshop techniques to transform your headline with a wow-factor of 10+ (just like the pros do it!)

Video 3:

  • Add your mug shot to the header graphic and stylize it to fit with your blog’s branding
  • Fine-tune the complete design of your header
  • Use a rarely seen trick to produce precisely the complimentary colors you need for the elements in your graphic, without spending valuable time trawling through umpteen swatches and color palettes (pros do this all the time and it saves hours and hours of extra work!)

Video 4:

  • Create multiple copies of your graphic in formats you can use for future projects
  •  Apply the Kubrick .psd mask which allows your header graphic to fit the default Wordpress theme perfectly
  • Step by step - How to upload your header graphic into the live Wordpress folder so that it replaces the original default header

The videos are totally free to view. All I ask is that you login via the link below to gain access to the video material and simultaneously subscribe to “The Solo Report” so that I can keep you bang up-to-date whenever a new training video is posted.

You will immediately be sent a confirmation link by return email to the address you have submitted - so please make sure it’s a real address and one you check regularly. Once you have confirmed your request for more information you will be given direct access to the videos.

The videos are high quality streaming files, so there’s no need for you to download anything :-)

As always, I hope you find the material useful and I look forward to your comments and ideas.

All the best,
Dave.

Using Google Reader to Stop Information Overload and Improve Your Efficiency

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Miles Galliford writes:

THE INTERNET IS THE SINGLE GREATEST RESEARCH RESOURCE that has ever existed. However, whilst it has solved many of the issues of getting access to information, it has created new issues that have to be addressed. Probably the biggest of these is information overload.

In order to keep up to date with my many areas of interest so I can run my business efficiently, understand what is happening in the online content sector and still have time for leisure activities, I have to be extremely good at filtering information.

Over the years I have tried many tools to help me aggregate online information so that it is easy to scan, read, save and filter.

The tool that I have finally settled on is the free ‘Google Reader’.
